Natalie Blackburn, PhD, MPH

Natalie was a doctoral student in the Department of Health Behavior at UNC-Chapel Hill’s Gillings School of Global Public Health and graduated in 2020. She holds a Master’s in Public Health in Behavioral Sciences and Health Education from Emory University as well as a BA in Political Science and International Studies from UNC-Chapel Hill. Natalie has worked for Westat, a research consulting company based in Rockville, MD where she supported work for several studies including multi-site data collection for the National Children’s Study. After receiving her MPH, Natalie spent two years as a research fellow working in the Division of Viral Hepatitis at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. While at the CDC much of her work focused on improving hepatitis C testing and treatment programs for persons who inject drugs. Natalie’s research interests include the implementation of structural interventions at the intersection of HIV, hepatitis, and substance use for vulnerable populations.

In her spare time she enjoys cooking and exploring her city (and others’) by public transit.
