José Bauermeister, PhD, MPH
José Bauermeister, MPH, PhD is Associate Professor in the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Bauermeister completed a MPH (2004) and PhD (2006) from the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan. Dr. Bauermeister uses interdisciplinary strategies to develop behavioral and biomedical HIV prevention and care interventions for sexual and gender minorities.
Dr. Bauermeister is an expert in on eHealh interventions for HIV prevention and care, particularly among young gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (YGBMSM). Dr. Bauermeister leads several technology-assisted multilevel interventions to reduce HIV/STI risk and psychosocial vulnerability among sexual and gender minority youth across the United States. These projects include the development and testing of an online sex education intervention for YGBMSM who date online, and a life skills app for YGBMSM. As a member of iTech, Dr. Bauermeister leads the Get Connected Project.
